I actually put this video here for fun but if you look through it, you can get some great ideas for a bodyweight workout. What you’re seeing in the video is “Parkour.” This form of movement was featured in the opening scene of a recent James Bond movie. The kind of outdoor play exemplified by Parkour can be described as “integrative.” The nervous system as well as muscles are getting worked. Mobility is being increased rather than just flexibility.
An element of risk, such as that present in the combat sports, mountaineering, kayaking, rock climbing, and Parkour allows us to briefly escape the commonplace and achieve some level of transcendence.
In future posts, my wife and I will take you through some progressions of bodyweight exercise. After that, decide on an acceptable level of risk and the sky will be the limit!
